An irreplaceable part of life today, semiconductors are approaching gigabyte capacity in response to ever-increasing customer needs. Use of the higher-density VLSI in particular is becoming widespread. The manufacture of powerful semiconductors, however, requires precision at the submicron level. Daito Chemix photosensitive resin technology makes this precision possible. Applied to a silicon wafer, these resins react to projected patterns of light to etch electricity-conducting grooves in the wafer. Thus the continued advancement of semiconductors depends on the continued advancement of photosensitive materials. Photosensitive materials for semiconductors were first developed from materials used to make printing plates. Daito Chemix photosensitive materials are used in the production of the PS plate, known for its fine printing.
